The principle purpose of the Social Work Department is to provide services to patients and others who have social, psychological, environmental, and/or economical needs related to the impact of admission, diagnosis, treatment, discharge and/or aftercare.
Services provided are, but not limited to: psychosocial assessment, discharge planning, short term counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, education, community liaison, information and referral, and advocacy.
The Social Work Department offers services to inpatients, observation, outpatients, swing bed, oncology, emergency, and Home Health Care patients. Age of population varies from neonates through geriatric. DCMH patients involved with these services may request the assistance of one of our Social Workers.

The Social Work Department presents a Safe Sitter program each year for those age 11 to 13 who will be serving as sitters for younger children. Click the link below for more details.
