A Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and Registered Dietitian teach all sessions that follow curriculum standards of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) Diabetes Education Accreditation Program (DEAP). \n\n\n\n\nClass Topics Include: \n\nOverview of diabetes\nHealthy eating with a focus on: Building a balanced plate\, meal patterns to support blood sugar management\, portion control\, food and nutrient groups\, eating out strategies\, meal planning\, and much more!\nRole of exercise in treatment\nMedications available to treat diabetes\nBlood glucose testing and monitoring\nWays to reduce risks for short and long-term complications\nProblem solving and goal setting\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach session consists of a series of three – two-hour classes and registration is required to attend the classes. DESCRIPTION:Decatur County Memorial Hospital offers Prenatal Education and Breastfeeding classes\, taught by a trained instructor. \nThese classes are designed to empower expectant parents and their birth partners with the knowledge and skills necessary for a positive labor & delivery experience\, as well as breastfeeding. \nPrenatal Classes: During the free classes\, you’ll receive comprehensive pregnancy support and learn relaxation and breathing techniques for labor\, which helps expectant parents and their support person(s) prepare for childbirth.
