The evening was hosted by Jessica Hunter, DCMH’s Lead Mammography Technologist, in which she detailed the fact that 1 in 8 women will have breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. Emphasizing the importance of receiving mammograms, based on age recommendations, is the most crucial way to detect and treat breast cancer early.
Mandy Lohrum, Director of the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County also shared how the Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Fund helps to provide essential mammograms for those in need, especially individuals who may not otherwise have access to screening due to financial constraints.
Attendees also heard from several breast cancer survivors and were able to schedule their mammograms at the event.
