Common Reasons to See a Pulmonologist:
- Asthma – Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition where the airways become inflamed and narrow, causing difficulty in breathing. Symptoms include wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing, especially during physical activity or sleeping.
- Breathing Problems – Breathing problems refer to any difficulty inhaling or exhaling air, leading to shortness of breath, wheezing, or a feeling of tightness in the chest. These issues can stem from various causes and could signal a serious lung condition.
- COPD – Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive lung condition that makes it hard to breathe due to long-term exposure to irritants, like cigarette smoke, which leads to airflow blockage and difficulty in carrying out daily activities.
- Lung Cancer and Lung Nodules – Lung nodules are small, round growths or lumps in the lung often found incidentally during imaging tests. While most nodules are benign, some can be early signs of lung cancer, requiring further evaluation.
If you suffer from one of these ailments or have any concerns, consulting a Pulmonologist may be the first step in getting you back on track.
