Additional Pregnancy Support
Support for Every Step of Your Pregnancy
Our experienced physicians and nurse practitioners offer support for every step of your pregnancy, guiding you through every milestone and ensuring the health and well-being of both you and baby. If you are expecting or looking to grow your family, we’ll be with you every step of the way for:
- Caring for Multiple Gestations – managing pregnancies with more than one fetus, including twins or higher multiples
- Counseling to Assist with Family Planning – guidance on planning and timing your family’s growth
- Creating Personalized Birthing Plans – developing a birth plan tailored to your preferences for a safe, comfortable delivery
- Diagnosing and Managing Gestational Diabetes – monitoring and treating diabetes that develops during pregnancy
- Managing Labor & Delivery – expert support and care throughout the labor and delivery process
- Non-Stress Testing – monitoring fetal well-being during pregnancy using heart rate patterns
- Normal & High-Risk Pregnancies – comprehensive care for both uncomplicated and higher-risk pregnancies
- Post-Partum Care – support and care following delivery for both mother and baby
- Pregnancy Testing – accurate and early detection of pregnancy

Prenatal/Breastfeeding Classes
At the Women’s Center, our team provides support for every step of your pregnancy with free Prenatal and Breastfeeding Classes. These classes are designed to empower expectant parents and their birth partners with the knowledge and skills needed for a positive labor & delivery and breastfeeding experience.
Prenatal Classes: During the free classes you’ll receive comprehensive pregnancy support and learn relaxation and breathing techniques for labor which helps expectant parents and their support person(s) prepare for childbirth. These classes offer a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, bond, and explore the birthing center, helping you feel prepared and at ease before delivery.
Breastfeeding Classes: During these free classes you’ll learn the benefits of breast milk, how to start breastfeeding, ways to prevent common issues, enhance your ability to develop a successful breastfeeding relationship, and receive guidance for accommodating breastfeeding during work or school schedules.

A Partner on Your Parenthood Journey
Decatur County residents may qualify for access to a dedicated Perinatal Nurse Navigator who provides guidance and support for every step of your pregnancy and your parenthood journey if you are:
- Planning a pregnancy
- Currently pregnant
- Postpartum
- Between pregnancies
- A father or partner, or
- Parent to an infant up to 18 months old
- Infants up to 18 months old
- And a resident of Decatur County
This personalized care, education, and resources are part of the Indiana Rural Health Association’s (IRHA) Healthy Start Communities that C.A.R.E. (HSCC) program, funded through the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). HSCC provides confidential screening, support, referrals, treatment, and education to improve health outcomes for mothers and infants.
Participants receive tailored education, navigation assistance, and access to resources such as:
- Insurance guidance through Connecting Kids to Coverage-IN
- Referrals for free or reduced-cost direct social services through IRHA Help, an online, confidential platform that assists in finding services such as housing, transportation, food, and more
- Information on maternal mental health, safe sleep, lactation, fatherhood education, and more
Each participant is paired with a Perinatal Navigator who provides one-on-one guidance and a welcome bag filled with essentials, including educational materials to empower healthier choices. Participants do not have to be patients of Decatur County Memorial Hospital in order to qualify.

Golden Hour / Skin-to-Skin
The “golden hour,” or skin-to-skin time, is a precious moment for parents and newborns to bond as a family. During this time, we encourage limited visitors to help nurture lifelong healthy emotional connections. Support for every step of your pregnancy, including moments like these, fosters your well-being and strengthens the connection with your little one.

Newborn Photography
DCMH has partnered with Love Story Photography to offer new parents the chance to have professional photos taken of their newborn in the convenience of their private room. The photographs can be taken in a variety of poses, and moms, dads, and siblings are encouraged to attend the portrait session. The photographs will be posted on Love Story’s secure, password-protected web gallery for parents to share with family and friends. Support for every step of your pregnancy, includes making memories and capturing moments like these.

Imagination Library
Decatur County Memorial Hospital is proud to team up with the Decatur County United Fund and the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to our community, gifting free books to children up to age 5. Thanks to funding from these organizations, this program is available at no cost to Decatur County residents, provided their children are born at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

Lactation Support
The Women’s Center International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) and Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC) are dedicated to assisting with breastfeeding and lactation, providing support, problem-solving, and guidance tailored to each mother’s unique needs and preferences.

Milk Bank
The Women’s Center is a designated drop-off site for human milk donations, we offer convenience and accessibility for donors.
