Employees of Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) recently took an important step to prioritize their own health during a series of free wellness screening events. Thanks to the generosity of the DCMH Rewards & Recognition Committee and the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County, 1680 free screenings were provided to 280 employees across multiple employee-only events held in July.
These screenings offered were about more than preventative care; they reflected DCMH’s commitment to people. Employees from every department participated, including nurses, environmental services, dietary, administrative professionals, technicians, and beyond. These events set a clear tone of appreciation from leadership.
DCMH routinely offers free screening events to the community, but these events were designed to ensure team members had the opportunity to receive the focused care and attention they deserve. The success of these events was made possible by the collaboration of various teams with one goal in mind: prioritizing the health and wellness of the team.
“Every person on our team gives so much of themselves each day,” said Lisa Rouse, Human Resources Director. “These free screenings are a way for us to give back to our team and thank them for all they do.”
“Our team is committed to promoting health and wellness throughout the community through our free screening events. Offering these same screenings to our employees reflects the commitment we hold to care for the people who care for others every day. When our staff is supported and healthy, they are best equipped to care for the community we serve,” said Rex McKinney, DCMH President and CEO.
The generous donors of the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County help to make events like this possible.
“Taking care of the people who take care of our community is so important,” said Mandy Lohrum, Director of the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County. “We are proud to support these screenings and invest in the health of our DCMH team. They spend every day caring for others, and this is one way the Foundation can give back, show our appreciation, and make sure they have access to the same great care they provide our patients.”
